This year our team of talented maths students had a fantastic run in the prestigious Hans Woyda maths competition this year. After topping their group in the opening stages, they advanced into the knockout rounds, where they continued to impress. With determination, teamwork and excellent mathematical reasoning, they won against Wilson's, Dulwich College and Hampton, earning their place in the final, which took place at the City of London School.
In the final, our team consisting of Alex, Johan, Charlie and Ben faced a strong side from Haberdashers' Aske's Boys School, delivering a great performance. Although they narrowly missed out on the top spot and finished as runners‑up, their achievement in reaching the final is remarkable. There have been moments of great fun, tension and celebration on this year's run and I thank Adam Wiechecki, Abhiraj Joshi and Alexander Apoolingum as members of the team, who also helped us reach the final. To finish second out of 64 is a result they and the entire school community feel immensely proud of.
