You might have noticed a Suttonian on your TV screens over the Christmas holidays. If you tuned into ITV’s new afternoon quiz show Jeopardy!, the quiz show where a question is the answer, Miles Searle will have been beamed into your living room.
On Tuesday 2nd January, Miles, who left school having completed his A-Levels in the summer of 2023, took to the Jeopardy! podium and shared the stage with the show’s host Stephen Fry.
It was no surprise to those who know him that Miles demonstrated an impressive array of knowledge and an unflappable temperament in the face of touch questioning. Many of the teachers greatly enjoyed watching along and if you’d like to catch up, you can find the episodes here: https://www.itv.com/watch/jeopardy/10a3961
SPOILER!
(Miles was victorious on his first day on the show and defended his crown in the next episode also. Unfortunately, his winning run came to an end on day three, though that was a closely fought battle that came down to the final question.)
Miles is passing as much time as possible travelling (currently in Estonia and Latvia) but is also in the midst of training for a long-distance thru-hike between Land’s End and John O’Groats to be completed over the summer, with a view next year to work on a vineyard/château in rural France for 6 months, where he hopes all his Mr Gunning culture lessons might just come in handy! He is heading off to University in 2025 but until then he is greatly looking forward to all that he has lined up.
