Spring term is the time for our Year 9 to Year 11 mathematicians to shine, and this year they truly did. An impressive 200 students took part in the Intermediate Maths Challenge on 28 January, demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience and a passion for problem‑solving.
Their hard work paid off brilliantly, resulting in:
• 87 Gold certificates
• 71 Silver certificates
• 25 Bronze certificates
Among these many impressive results, a number of students stood out for their exceptional performance. Pictured above left to rignt: Stefan Bucur (11G) Best in School, David Vulpe (10M) Best in Year 10 and Alexander Apoolingum (9G) Best in Year 9.
Twelve of our high achievers went on to qualify for the prestigious Olympiad rounds, and another 61 students qualified for the Kangaroo rounds, showcasing not only talent but also dedication and mathematical flair.
We were especially delighted by the enthusiasm shown by our follow‑on qualifiers, many of whom returned to school on the INSET day on 19 March—eager and committed—to sit their Olympiad and Kangaroo papers. Their willingness to come in on a day off highlights their passion for mathematics and their determination to embrace every challenge.
A huge well done to all participants for their outstanding commitment and achievements. We look forward to sharing the results with you soon.
