This was a much-enjoyed session with the author Andrew Lane, we got to meet him in person and talk about his books and writing as a career.
In this session, we met with the author of Young Sherlock Holmes and A.W.O.L. (Agent Without License). It was a great opportunity to talk to someone in the world of writing, someone with published books. He was very willing to share his tips for writing our own stories one day! His top-tip was to write about what you enjoy, but with a balance of whether it is going to sell as a book.
We found it most interesting hearing about how he got into the writing career and the inspiration and ideas behind his stories. We also asked him about the research he does for his books. He enjoys looking into what life was like in the time period he is writing about: he looks into their ways of doing everyday things - even as simple as going to the toilet!
Thank you, Ms Roberts, for organising the event.
