Last week, our Year 11 and 12 Drama students enjoyed a fantastic theatre trip to the Rose Theatre, Kingston, to watch the world premiere of Three Men in a Boat.

Based on Jerome K. Jerome’s beloved classic novel, this hilarious new adaptation follows three lifelong friends, Jerome, George and Harris, as they set off on what should be a relaxing boating holiday along the Thames. Instead, their journey is disrupted by torrential rain, eccentric dogs, smelly cheese and even a flock of angry swans, creating a series of comic mishaps and adventures.

Students were thoroughly entertained by the fast-paced comedy, original songs and inventive staging. The production also offered an excellent opportunity to see how a well-known literary text can be transformed for the stage, providing valuable inspiration for their own practical and written Drama studies.

The trip was an enjoyable and enriching experience, and students returned full of enthusiasm, having gained a deeper appreciation of contemporary theatre-making and performance.
