| Sutton Grammar School |
Sutton Grammar recently celebrated European Languages Week, highlighting the importance of language learning and the rich diversity of cultures represented within our school community.
Throughout the week, staff wore language labels on their lanyards to encourage conversations about languages, cultures and international experiences. Students were challenged to learn five words in a European language and submit them to their Modern Foreign Languages teacher, with Achievement Points awarded for successful completion of the challenge.
During tutor time, students also explored the many benefits of learning languages, from opening doors to future careers and study opportunities to developing greater cultural understanding and global awareness.
The celebrations extended beyond the classroom, with a special European-themed menu in the canteen and a range of activities organised by the MFL Department. Students and staff alike embraced the opportunity to discover new languages, share experiences of travelling and living abroad, and celebrate the international outlook that is such an important part of our school community.
European Languages Week was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the value of language learning and to inspire students to see languages not only as academic subjects, but as a way of connecting with people, cultures and opportunities around the world.
Thank you to the MFL Department, staff and students who helped make the week such a success.
