Our Year 10 students enjoyed an exciting and insightful visit to Subsea 7, whose global head office is based right here in Sutton. We began the day with a short walk to the venue, where students explored a range of impressive exhibits showcasing the company’s subsea engineering work, including detailed models of their specialist ships.
Students were treated to lunch before hearing from a variety of speakers who shared their roles, career journeys and experiences within the company. They learned about innovative technology such as the Borabox and gained an understanding of Subsea 7’s work in protecting working with the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton in mapping species native to the ocean floor. The visit also highlighted the many pathways into the company, including work experience, apprenticeships and graduate programmes, with students particularly inspired by hearing from a current graduate engineer in their first year with the company.
The boys thoroughly enjoyed the day, and we look forward to working more closely with Subsea 7 in the future.
