Year 12 Trip to Othello

On Monday, 8 December, Year 12 English Literature students got to witness the latest star-studded production of Othello in London's Theatre Royale. The titular role was played by David Harewood (known for his role in Homeland alongside Claire Danes). It was David's 60th birthday on the night in question and he was full of passion and energy, flinging himself onto the floor on two memorable though somewhat disturbing occasions. Likewise, Toby Jones (Mr Bates vs The Post Office) provided a vengeful yet comedic Iago, who revelled in bringing down those around him. At the end of the night, pupils made their way home with lots to talk about: Why did they cut those lines? Why did Othello behave like that? And did Enak have any cookies left?
