On Thursday 30th January, Year 11 travelled to the Apollo Theatre Victoria for ‘Poetry Live!’. As well as vital exam advice from the chief examiner, they enjoyed hearing several notable poets reading and discussing the poems that they have learned about in class.  Perhaps most notably, former poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy kicked off the event with current poet laureate Simon Armitage following her later in the day. As ever, John Agard stole the show in the final session with his raucous performance of poetry and tangential anecdotes. Not only will it be hugely beneficial for Y11 in terms of their exams, but also a fantastic experience to feel the power of poetry live in the theatre.
