Can you offer Y10 and Y12 pupils work experience?

Our Year 10 and Year 12 are on the hunt for work experience opportunities.

Work experience is a mandatory requirement for all students as part of their Careers education, serving to help build essential skills that our students need for their lives beyond Sutton Grammar School, alongside allowing them to develop as individuals.

We are hugely reliant on the support and opportunities offered by the wonderful SGS community, especially for those students who do not have a clear network of support or for those students looking to gain experience in very specific industries related to computing, finance, medicine, law or engineering, for example. It is also especially hard or our Y10s to find placements at organisations that accept under 16s.

We have a dedicated week for work experience running from Monday 6th July until Friday 10th July where all Y10 and Y12 need placements.

Would you be able to support a Suttonian by opening your workplace to them? We are looking for employers who can offer students a meaningful insight into the world of work. This could include:

  • Providing a structured week‑long placement that introduces students to different areas of your organisation
  • Allowing students to shadow staff across a range of roles and observe day‑to‑day responsibilities
  • Giving students hands‑on tasks or small projects that are appropriate, safe, and meaningful
  • Setting a real‑world challenge or problem for the student to explore during the week

If you feel that you are able to host a student this year, please complete the form linked here

We will share opportunities with students via the Careers Bulletin/Careers Notice Board and will then ask students to make contact to start their work experience journey.
