We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help assist with our Y8 and 9 Careers Days. Volunteers will be able to offer real-world insights and showcase the wide range of skills and opportunities within their field.  We are looking for passionate individuals who can engage a large group of students, share real-world insights and can help students understand the skills, pathways, and opportunities available within their field.

Year 8 Engineering and Design Day - week commencing (20th April)

What’s involved?

  • Share your career journey and insights into engineering roles (mechanical, design, civil, electrical, etc.).
  • Support students during hands-on activities such as:
  • Design and build challenge using LEGO kits.
  • Technical drawing and problem-solving tasks.
  • Digital poster creation to market their designs.
  • Engage in Q&A sessions and inspire students by discussing the skills and opportunities within engineering.

Year 9 – NHS Day week commencing (15th June)

What’s involved?

  • Share your career journey and insights into your role (e.g., doctor, nurse, pharmacist, GP, paramedic etc).
  • Lead or support interactive workshops such as:
  • First Aid Training (with St John Ambulance).
  • GP Services – role-play consultations and demonstrate basic tools.
  • Doctor’s Life & Skills – hands-on clinical skills and ethical discussions.
  • NHS Career Pathway Challenge – guide students through career routes and entry requirements.
  • Participate in Q&A sessions during the introductory assembly.
  • Encourage students to explore different NHS roles and reflect on their skills and interests.

Your involvement in either day will:

Provide real-world context and inspire the next generation of professionals.

Help students understand the diversity of careers within your field.

Promote teamwork, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
