When you start at Sutton Grammar School, you join a family of students, former students and teachers who have been part of our great school since it was founded 125 years ago.

At the end of your time at school, you will have the opportunity to join the Old Suttonians Association, which was founded in 1909 to enable Suttonians to maintain lifelong connections with the school and with each other.

The Association was founded by Mr S A Birks, who joined the school in 1901 as a geography teacher. Mr Birks took the first step in 1906 by establishing the Old Suttonians Football Club, in view of the desire among former students to continue sporting activities after leaving school, and in 1909 he went on to create the Old Suttonians Association.

The aim of the Association is to further the traditions and principles of the school by arranging social, sporting and other activities, and to enable former students and staff to stay in contact. The Association supports the aims of the school so that others may continue to benefit as former students have benefited from everything Sutton Grammar School offers.
