School ski trip report

In the first week of the Easter holidays, 89 students and 12 staff ventured to Austria for the school ski trip. The 20 hour coach journey seemed a dream compared to the Dover chaos of 2023 and so we arrived in good spirits in St Michael im Lungau. A new resort for SGS, it provided a picturesque setting for the week’s activities and much to the staff’s delight, the hotel was certainly a little more luxurious than some of the usual youth hostel accommodation.

Over half of the students were taking to the slopes for the first time in their lives and the progress they made during the week was exceptional. They quickly seemed at home on the piste and most importantly, found the joys of a bowl of hot chips or gigantic schnitzel in the mountaintop restaurants. After a hard day’s skiing, they enjoyed quizzes run by staff and sixth formers.

As the week drew to a close, we were sad to be leaving the mountains for another year. The pupils were wonderful company throughout the week and thanks all of the staff who made it possible. Keep your eyes peeled for the 2025 edition!
