Congratulations to Roddy, who has been awarded First Prize in a recent essay competition for his work titled:

“Y Mab Darogan: Was Wales the decisive factor in Henry Tudor’s victory over Richard III?”

The judges praised the essay highly, describing it as “very well-written and thoroughly researched,” with an impressive depth of analysis, particularly on a less commonly explored topic. They also commended Roddy’s insightful discussion of national identity and its influence on historical interpretation, as well as his effective use of a wide range of scholarly sources to reach a well-reasoned conclusion. One judge noted that it was “an engaging and original analysis of a question not often considered.”

Roddy’s work will be recognised in the next edition of the Richard III Society Bulletin, where his essay will be published.

A fantastic achievement, well done!

Mr Marshall
