A very belated thank you to all the Year 12 students who were involved in educational and fundraising projects for International Women’s Day in March. Teams of students worked with effort and enthusiasm to deliver thought-provoking assemblies and follow up discussion activities for all years in the school. Other teams organised the ever-popular Krispy Kreme sale and a raffle which raised a fantastic £664.34. Teams also made and sold ribbons which we were happy to see so many of you wearing.
Year 12 and Year 13 girls and some female members of staff gathered for a Ladies Lunch, which was a great opportunity to get together, share food everyone brought in, and give awards. We also welcomed the first (so far) female Head Student, Mihira Philip who gave an inspirational talk. It was lovely to see her and hear about her life and success after SGS.
This year we are donating the funds we raised to The Women’s Association, which is an organisation which offers mentorship and coaching from women executives in top companies. 11 of our students were successfully accepted on to the programme and have begun working with the executives. This will culminate in a week’s work experience in four firms in the summer and a presentation to all companies and other schools involved. What a fantastic opportunity!
Thank you to all those who donated and supported our IWD events this year, and for supporting gender equality.
