After an absolutely abysmal October camp due to the weather, many of us had reservations about embarking on the competition February camp, where the Year 12 ICs and their sections battle it out to win the legendary Ken Russell Shield.
Despite our anxieties, when we arrived at Rollestone Camp we were pleasantly greeted with underfloor heating beneath the floors of all our billets and sunny skies- for the most part. The four days consisted of several activities and stands run by the Year 13s, ranging from first aid to a military planning exercise.
After gruelling days of intense, scored activities between the sections, we ended the camp with range day. Congratulations to Christopher for achieving Shot of Camp with an incredible grouping!
Finally, the scores were revealed and Delta Section came out on top. Congratulations to IC Miller — his immense hard work was clearly exemplified as he was presented with the Ken Russell Shield.
Unfortunately, the camp had a somewhat sombre ending as the Year 13s had to stay behind and clean for two hours to appease the incredibly strict site management team.
Nevertheless, the camp was a success.
Thank you to all the officers and cadets who made the camp run smoothly and successfully, and special thanks to Warrant Officer Mineyko for organising it all.
