In the lead‑up to the festive season, Mrs Harris, Head of RE, invited all students to take part in a Christmas Poetry Competition. We were delighted to receive a wonderful range of entries, showcasing creativity, imagination and a real flair for language.
We are pleased to announce the winners were:
1st Place: Sebastian Chan (9G)
2nd Place: Mubashir Arshad (10G)
3rd Place: Aagarshan Umaganeshan (7W)
Congratulations to all three students for their outstanding work. The poems from our first‑ and second‑place winners are published below, and we hope you enjoy reading them as much as we did.
Sebastian Chan 9G
Our Christ was born on Christmas,
And what he did was thankless.
He saved us all from our sin,
Without him we would have been,
Doomed to lives of misery,
As we see from history.
He healed many injuries,
But before Roman juries,
He was punished quite harshly,
He was killed mercilessly,
But that important moment,
Was only one component,
Of the Lords great ambition,
To save us from Hell's mission.
Mubashir Arshad 10G
O Allah, Lord of the worlds,
All praise is for You, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
We thank You for Your countless blessings, for You promise increase to those who are grateful.
Send upon our world Your mercy, as You sent Your Messenger as a mercy to all creation.
Bring humanity out of darkness into light and guide us to the straight path.
Establish justice and goodness, for You command justice and forbid oppression.
Grant patience to those who suffer and relief to those in hardship, for with hardship comes ease.
Unite our hearts, for You created us from a single soul.
Indeed, You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.
Ameen.
