On the 30th of January, 80 new recruits, led by the Levitt Company Commander S/Cpl Alex Bucur, embarked on a trip to Longmoor Training Camp to put into practice what they have been learning in the classroom over the previous term. The cadets completed a variety of stands in the day: setting up bashas on the shelters stand, leopard crawling through bracken in fieldcraft and completing a military planning exercise known as Frimley. On the first evening they were introduced to billet inspections with SNCOs rampaging through a billet and generously allowing the sections to put the room back into a respectable state. On the second evening the company experienced their first night exercise. The night had a more relaxed atmosphere with teambuilding games and a talent show being highlights of the evening. On the night exercise the sections were all introduced to ambushes. And the camp culminated in the jungle run: an obstacle course including crawling under cam nets and finishing in a human pyramid. Congratulations to LCpl Stefan Bucur, whose section won the jungle run, firmly cementing him as IC of camp and congratulations to Cadet Iris Vulpe, who won Cadet of camp. I am hopeful that all the cadets had an enjoyable time and that they continue on to many more camps in the future.
