Archive relocation project underway

Sutton Grammar School

Work to relocate the school archive is now well underway, marking an important step in the school’s ongoing commitment to preserving its history and enhancing facilities for pupils. Thanks to the fantastic fundraising efforts during December’s Big Give campaign, the school has begun the process of creating a dedicated new archive space.

The archive will be moving into the former swimming pool shower area. The first stage of the project involves removing the wall that once partitioned the space. It is fair to say that this structure is proving significantly more time consuming to dismantle than it ever was to construct. Nevertheless, steady progress is being made.

A sincere thank you must go to the Premises Team for their endless hard work. Their continued efforts are ensuring that the project moves forward smoothly and safely.

The relocation of the archive will also enable the school to expand the Compass Room. This development will provide increased capacity for pastoral support, ensuring that pupils have improved access to the guidance and care they need. The enhancements will strengthen the school’s welfare and mental health provision, allowing staff to offer more comprehensive assistance to students experiencing challenges such as bereavement, anxiety, or family difficulties.

These improvements are essential in ensuring that every child continues to thrive both academically and emotionally. They reflect the school community’s shared commitment to compassion, care and the wellbeing of all pupils.
