D of E Silver Expedition

14 Oct 2025
Sutton Grammar School

On the Friday, 3 October, just as Storm Amy was heading towards the UK, a bunch of intrepid Year 11s headed to Wales accompanied by a slightly nervous Mr Marshall and Mr Karlsson, both suspicious of the dark and swiftly moving clouds on the horizon.  It wasn't long until rain lashed the minibuses, and the first night saw little pause in the swirling winds and constant showers.   But as the weekend unfolded, the brutal wind died down, and the warm sun started to peak over the rolling valleys near Abergavenny.  Aside from a few damp sleeping bags and one shivering Adrian, all went very well - everyone survived, and even seemed to enjoy the epic challenge of three unrelenting days of trekking across the mountains.
