Since retiring from the bench at the Old Bailey in 2022, Her Honour Judge Wendy Joseph KC has embarked on a successful career writing abut the law. In her first book, "Unlawful Killings", she used eight anonymized cases to demonstrate how the criminal justice system works. Then, last summer, in her second book, "Rough Justice" she employed a further four cases to demonstrate some of the system's failings, particularly those that adversely affect women.
Wendy Joseph recently visited school to share various insights from her books with members of our Sixth Form and to answer a wide range of questions about the criminal justice system posed by the students. Following the two assemblies, Wendy Joseph participated in a book signing and Q&A session with members of the school's Law Society. Her visit was greatly enjoyed by the students. Inspired by the example of her career, the students were appreciative of both Judge Joseph's generosity when sharing her experiences and of her candour.
Anyone who thinks they might have an interest in the criminal justice system is strongly recommended to listen to the "You Do Not Have to Say Anything" podcast, to which Wendy Joseph was a significant contributor: BBC Radio 4 - You Do Not Have to Say Anything
