By Year 12 students - Woody Melbourne & Alex Chumakova
On Wednesday, 3 July, Year 10 and 12 students had the opportunity to take a trip up to Oxford and attend two lectures, as well as being able to punt on the rivers and explore the town centre. The students were split into two groups and alternated: whilst the first group attended the lecture on Ethics by Dr Teichmann, the other half had the opportunity to have a guided punting experience. The year 12s mistakenly attempted to do it themselves – with limited success. The second lecture, led by Dr Avramides, a specialist in the Metaphysics of Mind, was a great opportunity for year 10 students to gain an insight into studying philosophy at A-level and beyond. Despite the weather, everyone had a nice day and hopefully it will inspire a new generation of Philosophy students at Sutton Grammar School.
